M1 is a molybdenum-chrome-vanadium alloy tool steel and known as molybdenum high speed tool steel. It is one of the mostly used tool steels and has similar properties as tungsten tool steels (T series) but has lower costs. It is applied for twist drills, screw machining tools, rolling tools and molds for broaching, cold pressing, and stamping, and cross slotted molds for screw making.
